July 2021

We have been having so much fun with summer camp. We have already done 5 weeks of camp. Our themes have included space, gardening, children's literature, STEAM, and Earth Science. The kids have made great projects such as paper mache planets, planters, making flat Stanleys, building bridges, and even erupting volcanos.

This week is ocean week. We kicked things off making streamer jelly fish. Our other great projects this week include: sand art, sand slime, paper bowl turtles, and ocean themed sensory bottles.

So far we have had an amazing summer. Tuesdays and Thursdays, when we have been able to avoid all the rain and thunderstorms of a typical Florida summer, have been spent outside having water days. We purchased a couple of slip and slides, water balloons, sprinklers, and a small pool and the kids have been loving it. Fridays we do chill movie days. We pop popcorn and invite the kids to wear their pajamas for a day of relaxing.

The other big hit this summer has been the game room. The kids all love to be able to go in and play video games especially when the weather is bad. We received some donations and used it to purchase an Xbox one, a few tablets, and games. We had several people donate TVs, video game systems, and even an arcade machine.

As the summer comes to an end, I know we will miss all of our campers. We still have a few things in the coming weeks to look forward to; such as our visit from Busch Wildlife, games week, and hopefully a surprise guest or 2 during career week. Don't forget to join us for our Open House night Monday August 2 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
