We have spent the week learning about Earth and Space science. We learned about the sizes and placement of the planets. The kids used their knowledge to make solar system models using construction paper. They cut out planets, decorated them, and then put them in order. Rock candy was another fantastic project. It teaches us how crystals form, and they should be ready to eat in a week or two.
Yesterday, we learned about the layers of the earth and made models on paper plates. Today we worked with the kids and fired model rockets using baking soda and vinegar. The kids had a great time. It's lovely to see them do these kinds of projects and learn while they think they are having fun.
They were a little disappointed this week because we missed out on water day with all the storms in the afternoons, but hopefully, next week will be clear. Because of our lovely, Florida weather we also got to have a tornado drill today and hang out in the hallway.
